As evidence of our commitment to food safety, in 2009 the company
won American Institute of Baking accreditation for packaging facilities.
This rigorous program rates manufacturing facilities like ours for their
strict adherence to a variety of food safety measures, including personnel
and facility cleanliness, documentation of food safety programs, and machine
maintenance. Emerald is proud to note that we achieved a score of “Excellent”
on our first effort, the second highest ranking possible.
In late 2008 the company was honored by Alameda County as a “Bay
Area Green Business” for our ongoing sustainable business practices.
These include recycling of all raw materials, including waste plastic,
cardboard and inks and programs to cut water and electrical usage and
reduce air pollution. Our company is one of the few manufacturers in
the County to have landed this designation.
