Requirements:
  Must know how to set up and operate laminator to the required specifications.
  Must have experience working with adhesive and dry bonding solvent less laminating.
  Must have experience with water based and solvent coatings.
  Must understand tension control.
  Ability to test coating weights and bonds.
  Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  Must have a minimum of 1 year’s experience working as a laminator operator.
  Able to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  He Operate equipment at highest efficiency possible while following standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  Must be PC literate.

Maintenance Mechanic

Emerald Packaging, a leader in the flexible packaging industry is looking for a Maintenance Mechanic with excellent mechanical and electrical experience. A background in manufacturing needed, familiarity with printing presses desired. Emerald Packaging is looking for a self-motivated person who works independently with little direction. The Maintenance Mechanic must be able to function in a fast paced work environment. Candidates must have the following experience:

Electrical:
  Strong understanding of AC/DC theory
  Fully versed in the use of a DMM
  Knowledge of how to use an oscilloscope
  Knows PLC's, particularly Allen Bradley, IIS and XDC
  Programming and tuning VFD and DC drives
  Familiar with lighting T5, T8 and Sodium Vapor including photocells and motion sensors
  Understand how to read Schematics and modify if necessary
  Understand temperature controllers and feedback devices (TC, RTD, J type, etc.)
  Familiar with oxidizers a plus
  Troubleshoot and repair air compressors
  Familiar with proximity sensors
  Familiar with photo eyes
  Ultrasonic transducers a plus
  Must have the ability to differentiate between electrical and mechanical problems
Mechanical:
  Solid mechanical aptitude
  Working knowledge of idlers and bearings
  Working knowledge of gear boxes
  Working knowledge of diaphragm pumps.
  Ability to do metal fabrication
  General machine rebuilding
  Working knowledge of pneumatic systems
  Working knowledge of hydraulic systems.

Plate Mounter

Emerald Packaging one of the largest flexible packaging manufacturers on the West Coast and one of the biggest suppliers of produce packaging in the country is looking to fill the opportunity of Plate Mounter.

Job Summary:

Under supervision of Press Manager and Section Leader. This successful candidate will be responsible for mounting, proofing, and assisting press operators with under laying in the press.

Essential Functions:
  Lay out and mount any job for the press department. This includes helping press operators underlay plates, adjust registration, and fix plate lifts in the presses when required.
  Make sure plates are in good condition to print a job. If not, inform the prepress manager. If he or she is not available, inform another member of management.
  Follow instructions on the job envelope. If there are any questions, ask a section leader. If he or she is not available ask another member of management.
  Using the sample or art provided and instructions on the job envelope, proofread each cylinder as you mount. You are to have another mounter, section leader, or a member of management double check each order before taking job off the mounter.
  Follow the job schedule, and Priority Board. Where there are any questions about the schedule, direct them to a section leader. If he or she is not available direct them to a member of management.
  Fill out production reports and enter production in to Toriflex.
  Assist in the training of department personnel.
Addition Responsibilities:
  Provide help in other areas of the factory as needed.
  Work overtime required to meet department needs.
  Help other mounters if need arises.
Qualifications:
  Knowledge of math and measurements.
  Ability to work well with others.

Press Operator

Emerald Packaging one of the largest flexible packaging manufacturers on the West Coast and one of the biggest suppliers of produce packaging in the country is looking to fill the opportunity of Press Operator.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate must set up, operate, maintain, repair and adjust presses, assist in training, check quality, work closely with the maintenance, mounting and ink departments, and make sure coworkers follow safe work practices.  This position is under the supervision of the Press Department Supervisor and Press Manager.

Essential Functions:
  Operate a press. This includes set ups, running jobs, monitoring inks, maintenance and repair, and supervising the work of a helper. Run press at best possible speed. Minimize waste.
  Understand the operation of the press you run. Be able to troubleshoot when needed.
  Check print quality throughout the shift. Take necessary action to meet quality required. Make sure plates are clean during printing, and make sure they are returned clean to the mounting department after press run.
  Monitor ink quality and usage throughout shift. If there are any problems or questions, find press department section leader or ink person.
  Follow instructions on the job envelope and specifications sheet. If there are any questions, find the section leader or a member of management.
  Using the sample provided and instructions on the job envelope, proofread a sample you produce and get another operator or section leader to double check before running a job.
  Work with the maintenance department to make sure your press is maintained and repaired in a timely fashion.
  Help make necessary adjustments and repairs to ensure proper operation or your press. If necessary, work overtime to perform adjustments and repairs.
  Follow the job schedule. Where there are any questions about the schedule, direct them to the immediate section leader. If the section leader is not available ask a member of management.
  Fill out production reports and any other necessary reports.
  Assist in the training of department personnel.
  Make sure press is turned over to the next shift clean and well stocked. Give a report to the incoming operator about any outstanding production issues.
  Work safely.
Additional Responsibilities:
  Provide help in other parts of the factory as needed.
  Work overtime required to meet department needs.
  Help other press operators if need arises.
  Enter information in Toriflex.
Qualifications:
  Work experience on a flexographic press.
  Knowledge of math and measurements.
  Ability to work well with others.

Process Control Engineer

Summary:

Provide day-to-day support of the manufacturing process through the application of engineering skills to assess, manage, implement, improve or revise processes designed to improve efficiency of operation, safety and the consistency of product quality.  Develops procedures that facilitate the adoption of standardized processes that support future expansion.  Monitors the effectiveness of processes and quantifies results and presents findings to management. Prepares detailed reports and analysis and provides information to management for use in measuring overall production efficiency.

Essential Functions:
  Analyze current methods used for press setup times, establish and implement new procedures to streamline the setup process.
  Increase overall productivity and efficiency in the press department.
  Reduce inventory.
  Streamline existing procedures and processes to reduce scrap/waste product.
  Report to management any inefficiency in production along with means for correcting inefficiencies.
  Work with department manager at all levels of the company to establish and implement new procedures.
  Analyze current methods and procedures used in the conversion department, establish and implement new procedures to streamline the conversion process.
  Increase overall productivity and efficiency in the conversion department.
  Analyze current methods and procedures used during the order entry process in order to streamline and establish a cohesive means to process orders.
  Analyze the full circle of production from product start to completion to ensure the smoothest and most efficient methods are used.
Qualifications & Competencies:
  2+ years of experience in process engineering.
  Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation communication skills.
  Six Sigma Green Belt Certification is a must.
  Lean Manufacturing background preferred.
  Undergraduate degree is a must (Industrial Engineering , Management Technology).
  The ability to set priorities. Strong organizational and time management skills.
  Strong communication and presentation skills.
  Proven successful track record in taking projects from concept to implementation quickly.

This successful candidate will drive the re-launch of Emerald Packaging’s value-added packaging business, including the marketing of lamination, prezippered roll stock, pouch making and laser microperforation.  Develop marketing program to introduce capabilities to the market, and position Emerald as a leading packaging technology company.  Lead cross-functional teams, including working closely with technology director, brokers and salespeople to deliver increased revenue and profit.

Job Responsibilities:
  Develop marketing plan for Emerald’s value-added business and drive new product launches, including innovative packaging designs.
  Pinpoint new markets Emerald can enter with its capabilities.  Develop plan, marketing materials, and find brokers and salespeople who can support our efforts.  Also make own sales calls.
  Manage profit and loss for each product style, including forecasting, gap-fill plans, and budgeting.
  Lead development and execution of brand vision for Emerald.
  Be part of cross-functional team that develops Emerald’s strategic plan, with focus on product innovation.
  Plan and execute offline promotions and experimental activities, including but not limited to event marketing.
  Oversee customer research.
  Adapt marketing strategy and plans for international expansion, with particular focus on Mexican market.

Job Summary:

The shipping manager has the overall responsibility for the distribution and warehousing of all finished good working out of two locations in Union City. This position also involves managing and monitoring personnel and stock to best serve our customers.

Essential duties and responsibilities:
  Ensures all transactions are recorded timely and accurately to reflect a correct inventory position at any time. These include shipments, product loss and damage.
  Contains and reduces cost and drives productivity within the department.
  Responsible for monitoring on a daily basis, the inventory of all products to ensure proper traceability of all SKU’s.
  Engages in the typical responsibilities of a manager requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating and delegating.
  Provides management of employees to ensure effective selection, retention, development, disciplinary action and performance management.
  Plans, directs and coordinates the activities of the shipping department in an organized, safe and sanitary work environment that is in compliance with the company’s policies, OSHA and government regulations.
  Responsible for on time delivery and product shipment quality.

Slitter Operator

Set up and operate multiple blade slitting/rewinding and packaging machines in a fast paced manufacturing environment.

  Set up slitter to required specifications.
  Operate slitter and packaging line efficiently as possible.
  Keep downtime to a minimum.
  Practice Continuous Process Improvement.
  Maintain Lean core values on production line.
  Must be able to read ruler and set up machine using complex measurement calculations.
  Laser and macro perf experience is a plus.
